Designed And Installed By:- Philip Handel 1976

Text And Religious Significance:- The Last Supper.
Mark 14:17–26
This window is an illustration of the Last Supper Jesus had with his disciples before he was crucified.

As inscribed at the bottom, Jesus told them to This do in remembrance of me.  Doing this in churches and services is referred to as the breaking of the bread, the Eucharist, the Divine Liturgy, the Mass, the Holy Communion.

Bible passage summarised: Prior to the betrayal and the crucifixion, the disciples were gathered together in the upper room at the time of the Passover feast which the Jews observed annually to commemorate the deliverance of their ancestors from slavery in Egypt.

Jesus at the last supper took and broke bread and referred to it as his body, and said, 'Do this in remembrance of me'. Then he took the cup and said, 'This is the new covenant, in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me'.

Gift of and Inscription:- This window was the gift of the Shapley family who lived in Sale during the early days of the oil exploration and the subsequent development of the industry in Gippsland, 1970-1976.

Mr. Shapley, a Construction engineer came to Sale from America with his family and all became regular worshippers and active in church affairs and upon his transfer overseas the window was a departure gift.

This double window includes the following wording.

The gift of  the Shapley family in gratitude for happy years within the Cathedral congregation
