TEXT AND RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE: -

Jesus as a boy in the Temple: Luke 2: 41-49

Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem each year at the feast of the Passover. When Jesus was 12 years old they went as usual and on their return after about a day's journey, Mary and Joseph found that Jesus was not with them, he had stayed behind in Jerusalem. So Mary and Joseph returned to Jerusalem and after three days found him in the temple. He was sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone was amazed at his understanding and at his answers.

When his mother asked why he had done it and caused them so much concern, his answer was, "How is it you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"

At this stage Jesus must have realized his own unique relationship to God, He was the Son of God.

The Badges at the bottom of the window denotes the original St. Annes Girls Grammar School crest and beside that is the boy's Grammar School, while the one above is that of the combined Grammar Schools.
